About Little Tex
Deciding where to eat in a small city usually comes down to distance, timing and whether the group can agree. Vernon's downtown makes that easier than most, because the core is compact enough that a few blocks covers a lot of choice, and parking is rarely the fight it becomes in bigger valley towns. Little Tex is part of that core, at 3302 29 St, inside the numbered grid a short walk from Thirtieth Avenue.
Restaurants in a city this size carry a mixed load. They feed the lunch crowd from the offices, the trades and the government agencies that make Vernon the service hub for the North Okanagan, then turn over to families and evening tables, and through summer they absorb the visitors who come up the valley for the lakes. That balance shapes how a room runs. Seating, service style, takeout, licensing and whether reservations are taken all vary from one place to the next, and none of it is obvious from the sidewalk.
So the practical move is the same as it always is, which is to call before you go, especially if there are more than four of you, if someone in the party has an allergy, or if you are arriving late in the evening. Ask whether they take bookings, whether the kitchen closes before the room does, and whether takeout is set up for phone orders. Seasons matter here too, since summer weeks in the Okanagan run busier than a quiet week in February, and a table that is easy to walk into in shoulder season may need planning in July.
