Courtyard Inn Vernon
About Courtyard Inn Vernon
Summer swells the north end of the valley. Kalamalka Lake turns the colour it is known for, the beaches at Okanagan Landing fill up, and the Okanagan Rail Trail delivers riders to the far end of the corridor, all of which puts pressure on the rooms available in the city. Courtyard Inn Vernon is at 4100 32 St, on one of the main routes through the middle of town, close enough to the downtown core that a visitor can leave the car parked and walk to most of it.
Accommodation in a city this size varies more than the word hotel suggests. Room layouts, whether parking is on site and free, whether anything is served in the morning, and how cancellation is handled all change from one property to the next, and all of them are worth confirming when you book rather than when you arrive. Travellers heading to this end of the valley should ask two local questions in particular: where to leave a boat trailer or a truck with a rack on it, and whether rates move with the season, since a lake town in July and the same town in a quiet week of November are not the same market.
Vernon rewards a visitor who stays a few days. The two lakes sit on either side of the city, the ski hill is visible on the skyline and a short drive away when the snow comes, and the farm country north and south of town makes for easy days out. Winters here are genuinely cold compared with the south end of the valley, which is the trade the city makes for having four real seasons, so packing depends more on the month than it would in Kelowna.
