About Butts
Okanagan Landing keeps a slightly different pace from the rest of the city. It grew up as the steamboat port at the end of Okanagan Lake, and even now that it is mostly residential it holds onto an identity of its own, with a marina, beaches and a run of quiet roads that never quite feel like city streets. People living out that way tend to do what they can close to home and drive into the centre of Vernon only when the errand demands it.
The address here is 817 Mission Rd, out in that part of the city rather than in the downtown core. Getting there from the main street grid takes a few minutes and a change of scenery, off the flat of the town and toward the water. Parking is a different proposition than it is downtown, which counts for something if you are carrying anything heavier than a wallet.
The most useful thing anyone can do before making the trip is pick up the phone. Vernon works through four proper seasons, and a great many operations out at the Landing shift their pattern between the summer months, when the lake pulls people in numbers, and the quieter stretch from November onward. A short call settles what is on offer, whether anything needs booking in advance, and whether the door will be open on the day you were planning to come. Ask what to bring while you are at it. It saves a second trip in from town.
