About Salty's Beach House
A day on Okanagan Lake ends the same way for most people: sunburnt, hungry and unwilling to drive anywhere at all. Salty's Beach House is placed for exactly that, at 1000 West Lakeshore Drive in Penticton, along the strip facing the north end beach where the sand, the promenade and the restaurants all sit within a few steps of one another.
A room this close to the sand lives and dies by the season, and that ought to shape how you plan. Summer evenings here are among the busiest hours of the year anywhere in the city, so ask whether tables are held in advance, how long a wait usually runs on a hot Saturday, and whether there is outdoor seating and how it is handled when the weather turns. Groups are far easier to seat with notice, and dietary requirements are easier to sort out at the point of booking than at the point of ordering.
For a family, settle the practical details first: whether there is shade, whether wet swimsuits and bare feet are welcome, and whether food can be taken away if the children have run out of patience. Outside July and August the beachfront quiets right down and hours across this part of town can shorten, so check before making the trip in from Naramata or Kaleden. The walk back into the downtown blocks afterwards takes only a few minutes on flat ground.

Where to shop in Penticton: small, walkable and mostly local
Penticton's shopping is smaller than Kelowna's and more its own thing: a Main Street of independents, specialty food shops that outclass their size, and Cherry Lane covering the mall tier.
