About Cambo Beach
A day on the water builds an appetite that does not want a long drive attached to it. Cambo Beach is at 914 West Lakeshore Drive, on the waterfront side of Penticton where the beach, the channel entrance and a strip of places to stay and eat all sit within a few minutes of one another. It shares its address with another business, which is common along this stretch.
Eating near the beach in this valley is a seasonal proposition. Between June and the end of September the waterfront carries a steady flow of visitors and the pace is quick; through the winter the same blocks empty and the schedule can contract. Anyone planning around a particular evening is better off getting in touch first, and anyone arriving with a group in July should assume a wait unless something has been arranged. There is more at cambobeach.ca.
Some practical notes for the waterfront in summer. Parking near the lake gets tight, and walking or cycling in is frequently faster than driving. Shade is worth a thought, since afternoon temperatures here climb past thirty often enough to matter. The beach itself is public and free, so a meal on this side of town can be built around a swim rather than the other way round. That combination is a good reason to stay near the water instead of out along the highway.
