About Sahara Coutyard Inn
Most visitors arrive in Penticton by road, either up the valley from Osoyoos and the border or down from Kelowna, and the first decision after arriving is where to leave the car for a few nights. Sahara Coutyard Inn is at 1048 Westminster Avenue West, on the flat ground between the two lakes and within easy reach of both the downtown blocks and the Okanagan Lake beaches.
Independent inns tend to be more flexible than chains and less uniform, which cuts both ways. Rooms in one building can differ in size, bed layout and whether there is a kitchenette, so describe the group you are travelling with rather than simply asking for a room. Worth checking as well: parking for anything longer than a car, air conditioning, laundry, and whether breakfast forms part of the rate. The website is the quickest way to see what is currently offered before you commit to dates.
Timing is everything in this city. From late June until the schools go back the town is full, and the mid-August Peach Festival weekend is fuller still, so book early and read the cancellation terms while you are at it. Outside those months the same trip is calmer and cheaper, and the wine benches on both sides of the valley are at their best once harvest arrives. Ask for a quiet room if you sleep lightly, and confirm how late an arrival the front desk can handle.

Where to shop in Penticton: small, walkable and mostly local
Penticton's shopping is smaller than Kelowna's and more its own thing: a Main Street of independents, specialty food shops that outclass their size, and Cherry Lane covering the mall tier.
