Elliot Row
About Elliot Row
A city of thirty six thousand people supports a different sort of clothing shop than a suburban mall does, closer to the street and answerable to the same customers year after year. Elliot Row trades from 334 Main St and shares the building with one other business.
Shopping at this scale runs on stock that turns over with the seasons rather than sitting in a warehouse. What is on the rack in June is not what will be there in October, sizes come and go, and a piece seen once may not be repeatable a month later. Policies on returns, exchanges, holds and alterations differ from shop to shop and are worth asking about at the till rather than assuming.
Main Street is the retail spine of the city, running a few blocks back from the Okanagan Lake beaches, and it carries a noticeably different crowd depending on the month. July and August bring visitors with time to browse, while the rest of the year belongs to residents and to shoppers driving in from the smaller communities around the South Okanagan. Parking is easy by big city standards, which makes a browsing trip a much lower commitment here than it would be in a larger centre.

Where to shop in Penticton: small, walkable and mostly local
Penticton's shopping is smaller than Kelowna's and more its own thing: a Main Street of independents, specialty food shops that outclass their size, and Cherry Lane covering the mall tier.
