About Hainle Vineyards Estate Winery Ltd.
The Trepanier side of Peachland is the town's rural edge, out toward the creek on the northwest fringe, where acreages and horse properties back onto the greenway. Hainle Vineyards Estate Winery Ltd. is found out that way at 5355 Trepanier Bench Road, above the lake and a good distance in feel from the Beach Avenue crowds.
The benches above Okanagan Lake are the valley's working ground for wine: slope for drainage and air movement, a long warm season, and a body of water below that takes the edges off the year. What an estate does with that varies a great deal, and so does the way visitors are received. Some run a tasting room through the season, some prefer appointments, and some sell mainly by other routes and keep the gate quiet.
Call before making the drive, especially outside the peak summer months, and ask whether a tasting needs to be booked and whether there is a charge. Roads on this side of town are rural in character, narrower and less obviously signed than the flats down on the waterfront, so give yourself a few extra minutes and follow the address rather than instinct. If you are building a day around the west shore, this edge of Peachland pairs naturally with a stop down at the lake afterward, provided somebody in the car is staying dry.
