About Bliss Bakery
Morning is the best hour on this shoreline, before the parking fills and the boats get going in earnest. Bliss Bakery is at 4200 Beach Avenue, on the waterfront road, which puts it in the path of two very different kinds of traffic: residents out walking early, and visitors who have parked once and intend to spend the rest of the day on foot.
Bakeries and cafes vary enormously in what they actually do on site. Some bake through the night and sell until they run out, others hold to steady hours, and many pair a counter of baked goods with coffee, sandwiches and somewhere to sit down for half an hour. A town that swells with visitors pushes this further still, since a Saturday in July bears almost no resemblance to a wet weekday in November, and small kitchens adjust what they make accordingly.
Two habits help. Go early if you have something specific in mind, because counters that bake in batches sell down through the day rather than restocking on demand. And phone ahead for anything in quantity, since a tray for a family gathering or a day on the water generally needs notice. The setting rewards a slow visit either way. The shoreline path runs past the beaches and the small pier, the commercial strip is only a few hundred metres end to end, and a coffee and a wander take about the same amount of time in Peachland.
