Not everything worth finding in Osoyoos sits on Main Street. Junction 3 Coffeehouse takes the address at 3 Harbour Key Drive, a short remove from the main run of shops and motels but still inside a town small enough to cross in a few minutes on foot.
Coffee houses tend to be shaped by whoever walks in. In a town like this that means visitors through the summer months, and residents through the long quiet stretch when the beaches empty and the population drops back to its usual size. What any given place serves, how much seating it has, and whether it leans toward a quick order at the counter or a table you can occupy for an hour all vary, so it is reasonable to ask before settling in with a laptop or a group.
Osoyoos rewards a little understanding on its own terms. It occupies the bottom of the valley against the United States border, wrapped around a lake unusually warm for this country, in landscape dry enough to grow sagebrush and antelope brush on the hills above irrigated vineyards. Summer is hot and crowded, the shoulder seasons are warm and calm, and winter draws its own visitors from wetter parts of the province. A morning coffee slightly off the main strip is a decent way to work out which season you have arrived in.
