About Huskey
Traffic through Osoyoos does not all belong to the town. The border crossing sits just south, the highway carries fruit and wine north and west, and a good share of the vehicles on Main Street are passing through rather than staying. Huskey sits on that route at 9101 Main Street, in the downtown blocks where the highway meets the lake.
A fuel and convenience stop on a through route earns its keep on ordinary things: filling up before a long stretch of highway, coffee for the driver, cold drinks for a cooler headed to the beach, and the small items people only remember once they are already on the road. The counter at 250-495-6689 can sort out what is available before you pull in, which is useful if you are timing a stop around a border wait or a long run over the passes.
This is the hottest and driest part of the interior, and that has practical consequences for anyone driving it. Vehicles work harder on the climbs in and out of the valley, coolers empty faster than they do at the coast, and water is worth carrying even on a short run out to the vineyards or the desert interpretive sites. Osoyoos is compact enough that a stop here leaves you within a few minutes of the lake, the beaches and the shops, so breaking the drive rarely costs much time.
