About Diamond Steak and Seafood
After a long afternoon on the water, most people want a sit down meal and a table that is not covered in sand. Diamond Steak and Seafood is found at 8903 Main Street, on the downtown run where the restaurants, the shops and the motels sit within a few blocks of each other.
Rooms built around steak and seafood cover a familiar range, from cuts cooked to order to fish and shellfish plates, usually with a wine list assembled to sit alongside them. In this part of the valley that list has an obvious local advantage, since the benches on either side of town are planted in vines and the surrounding region supplies a great deal of what gets poured in British Columbia. If you are arriving with a table of eight at the end of a day spent tasting, calling ahead is the sensible move.
Timing matters more in Osoyoos than it does in a larger centre. Summer evenings bring beach visitors and the steady flow of travellers off the border route, and the downtown blocks stay busy well into the night. The quieter months run at a completely different pace, and kitchens across town adjust their schedules to match the season rather than the clock. Anyone driving in from Oliver, from Keremeos or over the passes does better to check the evening plan before making the trip than to find out at the door.
