Coffee is what a commuter district runs on, and Lake Country sends a great many people south to Kelowna and north to Vernon every morning. Cream N Bean Coffeehouse is at 9685 Highway 97 in Winfield, in a building it shares with two other businesses.
A coffeehouse tends to be several things at once. It is a fast stop for people who are already late, a place to sit with a laptop for an hour, and the default venue for a meeting that does not warrant an office. Those uses pull in different directions, and the morning rush is when they collide. If you are settling in to work, arriving after the commuter wave has passed is easier on everyone and usually gets you the better table. If you are the one running late, ordering ahead where that is possible takes the queue out of the equation entirely.
Highway 97 is the spine of the district, carrying traffic between Kelowna and Vernon straight through all four of the old communities in about ten minutes. That makes a stop in Winfield convenient in both directions, though the turn in and out wants care at peak hours. Winfield itself is the part of Lake Country with the schools and the shops, set among orchard benchland with Wood Lake close by to the east. In the warmer months the same road brings beach traffic and fruit stand traffic through, so a summer morning here has an entirely different pace from a wet one in November.
