About Beat Patisserie
Pastry work starts long before the doors open, which is the first thing to understand about any patisserie. Beat Patisserie is at 11850 Oceola Rd in Okanagan Centre, in a building shared with three other businesses, at the southern end of Lake Country above Okanagan Lake.
The name points to pastry rather than sandwich loaves, and the work is measured in laminated dough, custards and tart shells more than in slicing bread. What that means for a customer is simple enough. The counter is generally at its fullest early, whatever is made in small numbers goes first, and anything that has to be built to order, a celebration cake or a large tray for a gathering, usually wants notice measured in days rather than hours. Ask about lead times before you need them rather than in the week you do.
Okanagan Centre keeps its heritage character better than most of the valley, a small early settlement of old buildings on the slope with a quiet shore road below. Oceola Road connects this corner back toward Winfield and the highway, only a few minutes away. Summer here is orchard season, with cherries in July and apples running into the autumn, and a valley pastry counter tends to follow the same rhythm as the fruit around it. Weekend mornings between June and September are the busiest stretch in this part of the district, so an early arrival is often the difference between choosing something and taking what is left.

Lake Country neighbourhoods explained: four communities, one municipality
Lake Country is a district municipality that never quite merged: Winfield does the shopping, Oyama farms the isthmus, Okanagan Centre climbs the Camp Road wine slopes and Carr's Landing keeps to itself.

Eating in Lake Country: the highway corridor, Oceola and Carr's Landing
Lake Country eats along one north-south line: Winfield's highway plazas do the everyday cooking, Oceola Road holds the lake-side patisserie and sushi, and Carr's Landing hides a destination restaurant at the far end.
