About Zumiez
Kelowna does not have a shop like Zumiez on every corner, so shoppers looking for what it carries tend to travel to wherever it is. The store trades from 2271 Harvey Street, on the Dilworth side of the city, where the flat valley floor gives way to the hillside streets climbing Dilworth Mountain.
Clothing shops vary widely in what they stock and who they stock it for, and the only reliable way to find out whether a particular store carries your size, your style or your budget is to go in and look rather than guess from the outside. Sizing conventions differ from brand to brand even within the same store, so trying things on matters more than the label might suggest, and it is worth asking about the returns window and whether something bought as a gift can be exchanged later. Buying clothes for somebody else, including a teenager with strong opinions of their own, tends to go better in person than from a description given over the phone.
Winters here are short and more grey than deep, but the mountains above the valley are close enough that warm layers are a genuine yearly question for a lot of families, and much of the same wardrobe carries straight through a hot, dry summer at the beaches. Reaching Harvey Street is simple from nearly anywhere in town, since the highway threads through the middle of it. Getting back out on a December Saturday is another matter entirely. Weekday mornings are the calm window. Coming from Rutland or Black Mountain, the northeast approaches clog first; coming down from Kettle Valley or the Upper Mission benches, allow for the descent and the lights strung along the way.
