Quick counter food has one job, which is to be right and to be fast, and the places that manage both collect a lot of repeat visits without ever being anyone's plan for the evening. Taco Del Mar keeps an address at 1500 Banks Road, on the Dilworth side of Kelowna.
Three other operations share the same building, which is typical of the small commercial blocks sitting just off the main corridors here, and it usually means a shared lot and a bit of hunting for the right door on a first visit. Counter service places are built around a short wait and a paper bag, so the practical questions are simple ones: how the midday rush lands, whether an order can be placed ahead for pickup, and whether they work with any of the delivery platforms if you would rather not leave the office at all.
Banks Road sits near enough to the Harvey corridor to be an easy detour from a cross town run, which is most of its appeal for anyone working in the middle of the city. Noon is the crush, as it is everywhere, and the half hour either side of it is far more comfortable. Kelowna heat is the other consideration through July and August, when anything carried across a parking lot is best eaten sooner rather than later, and the shaded spots along the creek and down at the lake are only a few minutes away.
