Mr. Pretzels
About Mr. Pretzels
Mall food counters work on impulse and location, and Mr. Pretzels sits inside the large shopping centre at 2271 Harvey Avenue in Kelowna, an address shared with dozens of other businesses under the same roof. The centre anchors the Highway 97 corridor between the Dilworth slopes and the rest of the city, which makes it the busiest single building in the valley for casual food bought on the move.
A soft pretzel counter is a narrow trade done quickly. The core of it is dough shaped and baked through the day, served warm, usually in savoury and sweet variations, sometimes with dips, and often alongside a short drinks list. Because the product is baked in batches rather than held indefinitely, timing matters more here than at most takeaway counters, and arriving soon after a bake is a noticeably better experience than arriving at the end of one. Anything ordered in quantity for an office, a team or a party is worth arranging in advance rather than assuming a tray can be filled on the spot. Phone enquiries go to 514-714-3444.
Almost everything about a visit follows the building rather than the counter, so the parking, the entrances and the surrounding opening times are the shopping centre's. The lot is large and the doors are numerous, which is worth remembering on the way back out. Traffic on Harvey thickens through the late afternoon and across the hot dry months when the highway carries valley trips as well as city errands. Weekends and the weeks before Christmas are the busiest the building gets, and the food counters feel that first.
