About Play
Outfitting a household for an Okanagan year takes more than one trip. Summer runs on paddleboards, bikes and lake gear, autumn shifts to trail shoes and layers, and the short valley winter still sends people up into the hills looking for snow. Play sits at 1950 Harvey Avenue in the Dilworth area, on the commercial stretch that carries most of the city's shopping traffic.
Sporting goods is a trade where the phone call before the drive pays for itself. Stock moves in seasons and sizes sell out unevenly, so if you need a specific size of boot or a particular length of board, asking first is quicker than hoping. Fit is the other reason to go in person rather than order online, because two pairs of the same nominal size can feel entirely different once they are on, and the time spent getting that right is much of what a shop with a floor is for. It is also worth asking what happens after the sale, since assembly, adjustment and warranty handling vary from one place to the next.
Harvey Avenue is where Kelowna does the bulk of its errand shopping, a long commercial run carrying Highway 97 through the middle of the city with Dilworth Mountain rising just to the north. That puts this address within a reasonable drive of Rutland, Glenmore and the hillside subdivisions, though it also means the afternoon traffic is real and worth planning around. What keeps the trade busy here is simple geography: a big lake on one side, orchard benches and pine ridges on the other, and a population that treats both as part of an ordinary week rather than as a holiday.
