About Plant Gather
Gardening in the Okanagan is its own discipline. The valley runs hot and dry through the summer, watering restrictions arrive most years, and the plants that thrive on a Kelowna bench are not always the ones that do well nearer the coast. Plant Gather is based at 1111 Gordon Drive in the North End, sharing that address with a couple of other businesses, and can be reached at 250 878 1902 or through plantgather.com.
A good conversation at a plant counter starts with your conditions rather than with a wish list. Bring the direction your window or your bed faces, a rough idea of how many hours of direct sun it gets, and an honest account of how often you will actually water. That is usually enough for someone behind the counter to steer you toward something that will survive its first season here. Stock in this trade also turns over with the calendar, heavier in spring and again in early autumn, thinner in the deep heat of midsummer, so calling about a particular species is more reliable than driving over on spec.
The North End suits this kind of business. Just above downtown, it is a patchwork of older houses and light industrial sheds that has been quietly filling with small makers, studios and cafes, and it still allows for the floor space that plants demand. Gordon Drive runs the length of the city from here south through Pandosy and into the Mission, which makes the trip straightforward from most of the valley floor even if the hillside neighbourhoods add a climb at either end. For anyone new to the valley the first summer does the teaching: shade matters more than newcomers expect, and so does the difference between a lot on the flat and one a hundred metres up the slope.

Okanagan neighbourhoods explained, without the brochure adjectives
None of the valley's cities draws its neighbourhood lines the same way, and none publishes anything like an honest map. How each city actually divides up, which districts hold the shops and schools, and why the lake decides almost all of it.
