Half Blind Bean Coffee
About Half Blind Bean Coffee
A block inland from the Pandosy strip, Richter Street carries quieter traffic through the neighbourhoods between downtown and the Mission. Half Blind Bean Coffee keeps its address at 3320 Richter St, close enough to the village shops to catch passing feet and far enough off the main street to feel like a neighbourhood stop.
Independent coffee shops answer the same handful of questions in different ways. Some roast their own and sell beans by the bag, others buy from a roaster and put their attention into the bar. Espresso, batch brew, pour over and cold brew are not all on offer everywhere, and neither is real food; some rooms do pastry only, some do sandwiches, some do neither and are happy about it. Seating matters too, particularly if you mean to work: outlets, wifi and whether laptops are welcome during the busy stretch are all fair to ask about. There is a site at hbbcoffee.ca worth a glance for anything current.
Pandosy is the closest thing Kelowna has to a walkable village outside the downtown core, with low rise shops, apartments above them and beach access at the end of several streets. Summer brings a constant flow of people between the water and the shops, and parking on the side streets fills accordingly. In the shoulder seasons the neighbourhood quiets down and the same faces come through each morning. Cyclists have a flat easy run along these streets, and anyone walking up from the beach will find this block a natural halfway point.
