Bean scene
About Bean scene
Low-rise and walkable, the village south of downtown packs its shops, apartments and restaurants into a few blocks along Pandosy Street. Bean scene works from a counter at 2940 Pandosy St, close enough to the water that a cup can be the start of a walk to the beach rather than a separate errand.
A neighbourhood coffee bar earns its place through consistency more than novelty, and the details that matter to a regular are practical ones. Whether the room has tables you can actually work at or is built for a quick queue. Whether there is anywhere to sit outside for the six warm months. Whether the espresso machine or the batch brewer is the better bet at the hour you tend to arrive. Those are the things that decide where somebody goes twice. Non-dairy options, decaf and whether there is any food to go with the coffee are all worth a quick question on 236-420-2772, and beanscene.ca is the easier route if you are checking from out of town.
This end of Kelowna is at its best on foot, and the address suits a morning that starts with coffee and ends at the lake. Parking on and around Pandosy is metered in places and heavily used through the summer, so leaving the car a couple of streets back is usually quicker than hunting for the closest space. Cycling in from downtown along the lakeside route takes very little time and sidesteps the problem altogether.
