Sun Country Cycle traces its roots back to 1944 as Vernon Lock and Cycle, took the Sun Country Cycle name in 1984, and moved to its current Kalamalka Road address in Coldstream in 2023, putting the shop next to the Okanagan Rail Trail rather than its previous Vernon location. That stretch of the rail trail sees heavy use from both commuting and recreational riders, so the move put the store close to a steady flow of the people it sells to.
The shop is an authorized dealer for Trek, Norco, Electra, Pivot Cycles and Cervelo, and stocks new road, mountain, cruiser, electric and kids bikes alongside accessories and riding apparel. Service, repair and maintenance work runs alongside sales, which matters in a shop this close to a trail: someone who rolls in with a flat tire or a slipping derailleur can get back out the same visit rather than waiting on a mail order part.
Hours are Monday through Saturday, 9:30 in the morning to 5:30 in the evening, and the shop can be reached at 250-545-8775. Given how recently the move happened, anyone who knew the old Vernon storefront should update their address before heading over, since the Kalamalka Road location is the current one.
