Turf grown on site is cut and sold both to homeowners doing a single yard and to commercial crews working larger jobs, with delivery arranged for orders that need it rather than everyone hauling rolls home in a truck bed.
Sod farming in this part of the valley means working around a short growing season and soil that runs from sandy benches to heavier clay, and a grower that has stayed in the same spot for close to four decades has generally worked out which grass blends hold up to Okanagan summers and which struggle once the heat sets in around July and August. New lawns, patch repairs after a renovation, and larger commercial grading jobs all draw on the same stock.
The retail yard keeps set hours, Monday to Friday from 8 in the morning to half past three, Saturday mornings until noon, and closed Sundays and most holidays, so a call ahead is worth it before driving out with a trailer.
