Vernon carries the health care load for the whole North Okanagan, which is a larger job than the population inside the city limits suggests. Interior Health holds a Vernon address on 32nd, in the downtown core where much of the region's public business sits within a few blocks of itself.

Distance is the quiet fact of health care at this end of the valley. The city is where the North Okanagan comes, from the farms north toward Swan Lake to the acreages spreading south across the Commonage, and that shapes how the services here are arranged.
