Ice Cream & Dessert
Tickleberry's
About Tickleberry's
Cold sweets carry real weight in a valley where July heat settles over the lake and stays there. Tickleberry's holds an address at 202 Main St, in the downtown blocks that sit a few streets back from the Okanagan Lake beaches and the entrance to the river channel.
Dessert counters differ from one another in ways worth a question at the door. Some are built for a scoop and a bench outside, some carry packaged sweets and chocolates alongside the cold case, and some will pack a container to carry home. If you are feeding a group, asking about larger sizes and how the walk home will treat them is the practical move. Seating is often limited by design in a shop like this, since most of the traffic is already on its way somewhere else.
Main Street is the spine of the city, running north toward the water with Munson Mountain and its hillside letters standing over the whole arrangement. The 200 block puts you within a short walk of the lakefront, the shops on the side streets and the crowds that build through the summer, especially in the week of the Peach Festival. Parking downtown stays easy by the standards of larger cities, which is one reason people from Naramata and the smaller communities south of here do their errands in Penticton. Foot traffic thins considerably once the season turns, and a phone call before a special trip is never a bad idea in the shoulder months.

Penticton keeps one official neighbourhood and divides itself by geography instead: the north beach downtown, the quieter south end, the channel running between, and the benches climbing west toward Naramata.
