About Sunny Beach Motel
A week at the lake with children in tow rewards a very particular kind of lodging: door within sight of the car, somewhere to hang wet towels, and sand close enough that nobody has to be driven back for a forgotten hat. Sunny Beach Motel is at 3648 Parkview Street, at the southern end of Penticton where the city runs down toward Skaha Lake.
Motels do a job that larger hotels handle differently. Parking is usually at the room, luggage moves in one trip, and the layout suits families and anyone travelling with gear. Beyond that the variation is wide. Kitchenettes, fridges, laundry, ground floor access, cots, connecting rooms and whether pets are welcome all change from one place to the next, and none of it can be assumed. It is worth walking through the specifics before booking, particularly if the trip depends on being able to cook or on getting a family into adjoining rooms.
The south end has its own character. Skaha Lake is the quieter of the two beaches, warm through the summer and easier to park near than the busier north end, and the river channel that links the lakes ends nearby after its slow drift down through the middle of town. Penticton is compact enough that being at this end costs nothing in convenience, since downtown, the shops and the highway out toward Oliver and Osoyoos are all a short drive away.
