About Edgewater Motel
The south end of Penticton has its own lake, its own beach and its own summer traffic, quite separate from the busier north end. Edgewater Motel is at 3883 Skaha Lake Road, on the approach into the city from the south.
Roadside motels are judged on a short list of things. Parking at the door, a room that is actually quiet, a kitchenette or the absence of one, laundry, and what time the front desk stops answering all matter more than anything painted on a sign. Peak season adds two more questions: whether a minimum stay applies over a long weekend, and how late a room can be held on the day of arrival. Cancellation policies are worth asking about too, since independent motels often set their own terms rather than following a chain standard, and peak weekend rules can differ from a midweek stay.
You can reach the motel at 250-492-4337, and there is a site at southbeachgardens.com. Booking early is the rule for July and August, when the valley fills and the mid August Peach Festival takes a weekend of its own. Skaha Lake Road is the way in for anyone coming up from Oliver and Osoyoos, which makes this end of the city a convenient base for a trip that involves the country to the south as much as the beaches in town. Oliver and Osoyoos both sit within a fairly short drive south along Highway 97, part of why this stretch of road carries steady traffic through the warmer months.
