Neighbourhood Brewing
About Neighbourhood Brewing
Small breweries changed the shape of drinking in British Columbia over the last couple of decades, and the Okanagan took to them quickly, in a valley already organised around fruit, wine and the tourist season. Neighbourhood Brewing operates from 187 Westminster Avenue W, a block off the Main Street spine in downtown Penticton and an easy walk from the Okanagan Lake beaches at the north end of the city.
A brewery is not a bottle shop, and knowing which questions apply saves a wasted trip. Some run a tasting room with pints and flights, some pour samples only, some serve food and some let you bring your own, and nearly all sell cans or fills to take away. Hours in this trade move with the season here, longer through summer and tighter across the winter, so it is worth checking neighbourhoodbrewing.com or phoning ahead before driving in from out of town. Group visits, private bookings, family and dog policies, and whether there is a patio all vary from one door to the next.
Penticton suits the format. The city is compact enough that this Westminster Avenue address is within reach of most of it on foot or by a very short drive, and it picks up steady summer traffic from the beaches, from the channel float between the two lakes, and from the touring routes that run north up the Naramata Bench and south toward Oliver and Osoyoos. In August the whole core is busy with festival crowds.

Penticton neighbourhoods explained: north, south and the channel between
Penticton keeps one official neighbourhood and divides itself by geography instead: the north beach downtown, the quieter south end, the channel running between, and the benches climbing west toward Naramata.
