The water here is long and warm by Canadian standards, warm enough to draw people from all over the province, and the town wraps around it rather than simply sitting beside it. Village on the Lake takes its place in that pattern at 4300 44th Ave, in the downtown part of Osoyoos where the beaches and the accommodation run into one another.
Lakeside accommodation covers a wide range, and the differences matter far more than the label does. Before committing to dates, it is worth establishing what a unit actually includes: a kitchen or a kettle, one bedroom or three, laundry on site or a trip into town, parking for a boat and trailer or a single stall. Ask how the water is reached from the door, since the shoreline in Osoyoos changes character from one block to the next.
The reward for that planning is a stay in the driest and hottest part of the interior, with warm shallow water close by and a landscape that looks nothing like the rest of the province. Sagebrush and antelope brush cover the hills, and interpretive sites maintained by conservation groups and the local First Nation explain a desert ecosystem that survives almost nowhere else in the country. Vineyards occupy the benches above the valley floor. Winter brings its own crowd, arriving from colder places for a milder few weeks, so the town is worth considering outside the obvious months too.
