About Yum Yum Tree
Deciding where to eat in Kelowna often comes down to how central the address is, and Yum Yum Tree keeps things simple on that score: 1835 Gordon Drive sits close enough to the downtown core that most of the central neighbourhoods are a short walk or a five minute drive away. The line to call is 250-860-7378.
Kelowna eats out a great deal, partly because the city serves as the hub for the whole valley and partly because summer brings a long stream of visitors down to the lake. In practice that means a restaurant can be quiet at four in the afternoon and full at seven, and that the rhythm swings hard between July and February. If you are planning around a group, a birthday, or a fixed time before a show or a game, phoning first is worth the minute it takes. It is also the quickest way to ask about takeout, about room for a stroller or a wheelchair, and about what the parking looks like on the street outside.
These blocks sit between the office towers and waterfront parks of the downtown core and the low-rise shops of the Pandosy village further south, so the people passing are a mix: workers from nearby offices, families off the surrounding streets, and the steady flow of drivers using Gordon as a through route. Street parking here fills up in the middle of the day. Anyone driving in from Rutland, Black Mountain or the upper benches should allow extra time in summer, when the roads get busiest. Arriving by bike from the Mission Creek greenway or the downtown paths is often quicker than the car, and considerably less trouble once you get here.
