About Pihl Law
Legal work in a city of this size covers a wide spread: property transfers, wills and estates, family matters, commercial agreements and the occasional dispute that ends up in front of a judge. Pihl Law keeps an office at 1465 Ellis Street, in the heart of downtown Kelowna and in a building shared with another business. The number to start with is 250 762 5434.
A first call to any firm is mostly about fit. Ask whether the office handles your particular area, since a practice strong in commercial work may not take on a custody file, and the reverse is just as true. Ask how the first meeting is billed, whether the rate is hourly or a flat fee for a defined piece of work, and who will actually carry the file from day to day. Bring dates, names and any paperwork you already hold, because someone who can see the documents at the outset can usually tell you within a few minutes whether you have a straightforward matter or a long one.
Downtown is the natural home for this kind of office. Ellis Street runs a couple of blocks back from the waterfront parks, close to the courts, to the land title and registry business that follows them, and to the accountants and lenders who turn up on the other side of most transactions. Because Kelowna is the service centre for the whole valley, plenty of clients drive in from West Kelowna, Lake Country, Peachland and further south, and the downtown grid is one of the few parts of the city where you can park once and walk between appointments.
