About HITZ BOUTIQUE
Small independent clothing shops give a downtown its texture, and Kelowna's core has kept a run of them along Bernard Avenue among the restaurants and offices. HITZ BOUTIQUE is one of those doors, at 550 Bernard Avenue, a few blocks up from the waterfront end of the street.
A boutique buys in small quantities, and that changes how you shop it. Stock arrives in short runs and does not come back once it has gone, sizes are limited to what one buyer chose to order, and the selection reflects a personal eye rather than a national plan. That is the appeal, and also the reason to go in person rather than browse at leisure. If you have seen something posted online, calling ahead to have it held is a perfectly normal request. Ask about exchange terms too, since small shops frequently work on exchange or store credit rather than refunds.
Facebook is where this shop posts, which for many independents is the first place new arrivals appear. Bernard Avenue is metered on the street with lots on the side streets, and the blocks further from the lake are usually easier to park on. Through the summer the street stays busy with visitors and the sidewalks are full into the evening; in winter it thins out and shopping downtown becomes a much calmer affair. Anyone making a day of it can finish with the walk down to the water at the foot of Bernard, which is the best part of the street.
