About Stillfood Bistro
Downtown Salmon Arm keeps most of its eating within a few walkable blocks, which is part of why the centre still works as a centre rather than a place people drive past. Stillfood Bistro belongs to that run, at 371 Alexander Street Northeast, a short walk from the wharf and the paths that follow the curve of the bay.
Bistro is a loose word, and what it means in practice varies from one kitchen to the next: usually a small room, a menu short enough to change often, and cooking that leans on whatever is arriving fresh. In this part of the province that tends to mean produce off the valley floors in late summer and something heartier once the weather turns. Calling ahead is sensible for a group of more than four, and it is the simplest way to sort out a dietary requirement, a high chair, an accessible entrance, or whether the kitchen is running its full service on the night you want.
Seasonality runs through everything in the Shuswap, and restaurants feel it more than most. July and August bring boat traffic, campground crowds and the music festival that draws the region into town, so evenings can commit early. The shoulder months are quieter and much easier for a walk in. The number to try is 250-535-2433, worth using before you drive in from Canoe or the rural roads, particularly on a long weekend, when a small downtown room can be full well before the dinner hour.
