About Kura
Eating out in a city of this size means a short list and a lot of loyalty, and the places that last tend to be the ones people fold into a weekly routine. Kura keeps an address at 1439 Main St, north of the tightest downtown blocks on the corridor that carries most of Penticton between its two lakes.
How to approach a restaurant depends on what is being asked of it. A quiet weeknight table usually needs nothing more than turning up, while a Friday in July, a birthday group or anything with a timetable attached is better arranged by phone first. Questions about dietary requirements, larger parties and whether food can be collected rather than eaten in are all easier answered before arrival than at the door. Seasons matter here more than in a larger city, since summer visitors change the shape of every evening.
That stretch of Main Street is the spine of Penticton, running between the Okanagan Lake beaches at the north end and Skaha Lake at the south, past the shops and offices with the hillside letters on Munson Mountain looking down over all of it. Parking on the corridor is easy by the standards of anywhere on the coast. The city is compact enough that dinner at one end and a walk by the water at the other is an ordinary evening rather than an expedition.

Where to shop in Penticton: small, walkable and mostly local
Penticton's shopping is smaller than Kelowna's and more its own thing: a Main Street of independents, specialty food shops that outclass their size, and Cherry Lane covering the mall tier.
