About The Sage Pub
Set at 6801 Cottonwood Dr in Downtown Osoyoos, The Sage Pub shares its building with one other business, an ordinary arrangement in a town this compact, where the core, the beaches and the highway trade all sit within a few blocks of each other. The name borrows from the country around it, since sagebrush and bunchgrass are the signature growth on the dry hills that rise behind the lake.
Neighbourhood pubs generally do two jobs in a place like this: through the warm months they feed and water visitors who have spent the day on the water, and through the quieter stretch between seasons they serve the people who live here year round. What that means in practice varies from one room to the next, so it helps to know what you want before you go. Some pubs run a full kitchen alongside the taps and some keep a shorter list of food. Some have a patio that only makes sense from May onward. Rules about minors differ by room and by time of day, and larger groups usually do better when somebody calls ahead rather than arriving unannounced.
If you are driving in from the orchards and vineyards north of town, or crossing back over the border at the end of a day trip, it pays to check ahead in the shoulder season, when hours in Osoyoos tend to move with the visitor calendar rather than staying fixed. Cottonwood Drive sits in the walkable part of town, which matters if you would rather leave the car where it is parked for the night. That is a sensible habit anywhere, and it is an easy one here, since the distance from the lakeshore motels to the middle of town is short enough to cover on foot.
