Travellers moving between Kelowna and Vernon pass through the whole of Lake Country in about ten minutes, which is exactly why a bed in the middle of it makes sense. Lake Country Inn keeps an address at 10010 Okanagan Highway in Winfield, on the corridor that carries all of that traffic.
Small highway properties are a different proposition from a resort, and the useful details are usually the ones nobody prints on a sign: whether a late evening check in is possible, whether there is parking for a truck and trailer, whether pets are accommodated, and whether any room has kitchen facilities for a longer stay. All of that is far easier to settle before arriving than at the desk with bags in hand.
Location does a great deal of work here. Wood Lake and its public beaches sit close by, Kalamalka Lake runs along the eastern side of the district behind the Oyama isthmus, and the orchard benchland above the highway is open country for cycling and walking. Summer is the busy season across the entire valley, and rooms anywhere between Kelowna and Vernon get tight through July and August, so booking well ahead matters more than the size of the town suggests. Off season the same corridor is quiet, and the district becomes a convenient base for anyone working in either city.
