About Hotel
Lodging in a town of roughly three thousand people works differently than it does in a resort centre. Enderby sits on the Shuswap River between Vernon and Salmon Arm, and the rooms in town are taken up by a mix of people: crews working on a job site or in the bush, families visiting relatives out in the Spallumcheen valley, paddlers breaking a trip toward the Shuswap waterways, and drivers who want to stop before the next stretch of highway.
What a given place offers is worth asking about directly, since it varies from one to the next. Room layouts, whether a kitchenette comes with the room, parking that will take a truck and trailer, ground floor access, and how pets are handled are all fair questions on a first call. Anyone arriving with a boat, a canoe or a pile of gear bound for Mabel Lake should say so when booking, because room to park and unload is not the same at every address in a compact downtown.
The centre of Enderby is a tight grid of heritage storefronts a block from the water, so staying in town generally means walking distance to cafes, shops and the riverbank. The cliff trail above the valley is the signature outing in this area, and the view from its edge takes in the whole sweep of farmland around the town. Summer is the busy stretch in a river town, with rafters, anglers and campers moving through, and reserving well ahead through those months is sensible. In the quieter half of the year a phone call remains the fastest way to sort out arrival times and what is open nearby.
